Aaron Knochel

Aaron D. Knochel is an associate professor of art education and an affiliated faculty at the Art and Design Research Incubator (ADRI). His research focuses on intersections between art education, social theory, and media studies. He started teaching web design with Chicago public high school students in 1999 and has continued exploring digital innovations with art and art education students. From community-based media production to participatory do-it-yourself digital fabrication, his interests follow the complexities of civic engagement both through art and design and through network connectivity.

Aaron received his B.A. in English and Art from Augustana College, his M.A. in Art Education from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and his PhD in Art Education from The Ohio State University.

Aaron attended his first DEL conference in 2016 and joined the conference committee in 2018. He has hosted a couple of DEL In Betweens and led a team at Penn State to host DEL online in 2022.
