Shaping Inclusive Futures of Immersive Technology: Interdisciplinary Collaborative Design for People with Disabilities

September 22, 2023 @ 17:30 - 18:00

Note: Session time is listed in BST. Check your local time zone.

Immersive technology has the potential to transform digital education and support people with disabilities, but limitations can prevent many users from accessing these technologies. Our presentation will showcase collaborative immersive projects implemented through the Innovation X program. Students from arts, engineering, special education, and the Aggie ACHIEVE program worked together over two semesters to create projects that explored opportunities for people with disabilities. Our case study aims to promote inclusive design practices that empower people with disabilities to engage with immersive technology, while also helping students become more inclusive and collaborative individuals in the design process.

Presenters:

  • Jinsil Seo, Associate Professor (Texas A&M University)
  • Caleb Kicklighter, Instructional Assistant Professor (Texas A&M University)
  • Paule Taele, Instructional Assistant Professor (Texas A&M University)
