Proposal deadline extended until June 21, 2013:
The eighth Designs on eLearning international conference in the use of technology for teaching and learning in art, design and communication will be hosted by the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), Wilmington, NC, USA on the 11th, 12th and 13th of September 2 013.
Titled The Art of Disruptive Engagement, broad conference themes have been designed to open up the conversation wherever you find yourself along the technology path. Specific themes identified include:
- exploring open environments
- grappling with the full spectrum of digital literacies in the classroom
- shifting roles of teachers
- accessing and assessing the value of emerging technologies for the classroom
- clarifying intellectual property issues
- shifting power dynamics in the academy
Short Paper Presentations
The abstract should not exceed 500 words in length. This will be the version published in the Designs on eLearning 2 013 Conference Proceedings.
Paper presentations will be allocated 20 minutes each. Presenters will be appointed into a time slot as a member of either a pair or a trio. No matter the appointment, each presenter will be allotted his/her full 20 minutes with a single question and answer session at the end of the grouping. So, if allotted into a pair session, each speaker will have 20 minutes and the Q&A will also last 20 minutes, thus lasting a full hour. If designated into a trio session, the three presenters will fill an hour (20 minutes each) and then the Q&A will last 30 minutes, thus lasting for a total of an hour and a half.
Submitted abstracts will be assessed in a blind review process by a committee comprised of distinguished international reviewers.
Panel Discussions
Panel discussions will be allocated either 30 minutes or 60 minutes (including Q&A time). The proposal will identify whether 30 or 60 minutes are most appropriate. Panels must consist of a minimum of two participants. Panel proposals must identify all panel participants.
Panel discussion proposals are not to exceed 300 words.

Submitted abstracts and panel discussion proposals will be assessed in a blind review process by a committee comprised of distinguished international reviewers.
Proposals must be in PDF format. Bear in mind, that no further editing will occur- they will appear in the conference proceedings just as you submitted it.
You may submit by emailing to belserv@uncw.edu . Once received, your proposal will be reviewed by two different blindly selected reviewers from our panel. After undergoing reviews, you will be notified as to the status of your proposal.
