About DEL

The Digitally Engaged Learning (DEL) conference has been running annually since 2005, supported by an international partnership of art and design institutions of higher education. Currently the DEL chairs and organizing committee are from Parsons-The New School, Teaching and Learning Exchange at University of the Arts London (UAL), Texas State University, and The Pennsylvania State University. DEL 2020 will be hosted by Parsons School of Design, The New School in New York City.

DEL is an international conference exploring and evolving digitally engaged teaching and learning in art and design Higher Education. By ‘digitally engaged’, we are referring to practices that are actively with, about or located in digital tools and spaces. DEL is a place for creative and critical making, where you will find objects, artefacts, experimental technologies and performances alongside presentations and workshops.

DEL engages important intersections to art and design education as the digital pervades almost all aspects of our practice and increasingly influences the creative, social and political aspects of teaching and learning. DEL increases the confidence of art and design educators to incorporate digital technologies and network communications into the curriculum in Innovative ways that impact the future of our students.

DEL is a small-scale, friendly conference that creates a critical and reflective space at the intersection of creative disciplines in higher education, teaching, learning and digital technologies. The conference provides opportunities to test, share and discuss emerging forms of pedagogy, art and design practice, and research. The strength of DEL in recent years has been its ability to intersect research, making, teaching, and virtual and physical aspects of creative higher education.
